Northern band Glass Caves embark on their Headline UK ‘Swim’ tour with an exciting date in London, headlining Hoxton Sq Bar & Kitchen. Surprisingly not sold out, though an eager and filling crowd, Glass Caves take to the stage with the charm and confidence they always exude. Cutting straight to the chase, Glass Caves dive right in to their new material and the crowd are already loving it, dancing and singing along to the new material despite the fact new single “Swim” was released just last month.
Glass Caves perform excellently together and have an amazing chemistry that really ignites on stage, obviously why we love seeing them live. Hoxton Sq Bar & Kitchen being an excellent venue choice and the lights supporting the stage was a visual show in itself, Glass Caves are the perfect headliners and it still surprises me that it wasn’t sold out and the recognition isn’t there. However, if one was to find some fault in this ideal band it would be the set list. Understandably, the ‘Swim’ tour produces new material and new songs to be performed but what happened to all the amazing songs from the previous album. Yes, “Be Together” was performed but the set list could have consisted of a mix of old and new songs to really get the crowd going but in the end the crowd was left wanting more and somewhat dissatisfied. Set length may have played a part in this as Glass Caves exited the stage there was hope they would return for an encore or just a squeeze of one more song.
Nonetheless, no doubt we will be catching Glass Caves very soon and we can’t wait! It’s always a pleasure seeing them live as they are *hand on my heart* the most exciting upcoming band and we love their music. Maybe next time the recognition for this talented band will provide sold out capacities and longer set lengths- here’s hoping!
